Parent Training

"Until you have a kid with special needs, you have no idea of the depth of your strength, tenacity and resourcefulness" – Anonymous
Parent Training

The family is key in making therapy work, and parents are usually their children's best advocates. However, we understand that raising a child with additional needs is no easy task. At Roots, we offer parent-training programs in English and in Cantonese with the goals of increasing knowledge, skills and confidence.

Triple P (Positive Parenting Program)

Backed by over 35 years of ongoing research, Triple P from Australia shares a lot of common ground with ABA theories. The Triple P Program is designed to prevent – as well as treat – behavioral and emotional problems in children and teenagers. We also provide the Stepping Stones Triple P for parents of children with a developmental disability. This program gives parents ways to deal with behavioral problems and issues that can make family life stressful. It can also help parents encourage positive behaviors in their children, cope with stress and develop closer relationships with their children. Triple P and Stepping Stones Triple P are conducted in English.

Heep Hong Society's Happy Parenting

Conducted in Cantonese, Happy Parenting comprises 20 essential parenting techniques specifically designed for raising children with special educational needs. Parents will learn how to build relationships with their children, prevent and handle behavior problems, and set up a comprehensive parenting plan.
